Below is a comprehensive listing of Don Polland's Miniature Bronze and Silver Sculptures as provided by his widow Charolette Polland. It includes his western, rodeo and wildlife sculptures plus an array of additional sculptures, some one of a kind. The bronze / silver limited edition sizes for each sculpture were the maximum number of each that could be cast. Iin some cases the actual number cast was less than edition size. The listings include the foundries at which the castings were produced. Details on the foundries can be found at the end of the listings. Sincere thanks to Charolette Polland for providing her comprehensive listing and for her help in identifying additional sculptures not in that listing.

Ambush at Rock Canyon (Bronze)
Ltd Ed
5 + AC Bronze (1971-72)
Weston Foundry
"It was a cold, overcast January morning in 1861 at the stage station in old St Louis. The passengers were huddled in little groups exchanging worries about their forthcoming trip over some 2,900 miles through six states to California. The trip would be a jolting one over rocks and rough roads, shaky bridges, and always dust and more dust.
As the stage was preparing to leave, the discussion centered around the question: Could they get through? With the Civil War in progress, no troops were available for escort, and this trip would take them through Indian territories in almost every state. Consequently, the stage company was negotiating with civilian transits to hire on as outriders. Finally, when three were signed on, the stage left
for a journey all would remember.
Ten days out, while passing through some arid and dusty country, the stage is surprised near Rock Canyon by a maurauding band of Comanches. A running
fight proceeds through the Canyon with the wild shouting of the Indians and guns exploding on both sides. Finally the outriders, now reduced to two, have run out of ammunition and begin using their rifles as clubs to defend themselves and protect the stage. With the Indians closing in on the now runaway team, the air is filled with dust and the shouts and clamor of the battle. One can almost feel the tension and anticipation in the air, feel the sweat from the straining team, and almost think the thoughts of the passengers.... Will they get through?"
This is Don Polland's largest and most ambitious work. It took three years of research and two years to create. More than 100 different castings were necessary to complete the entire work. It measures 32" x 46" x 12".
